Disconnection Portrait
The sculptural installation Disconnection Portrait was exhibited in Australia in 2001, and was a first exploration into conditions of becoming; continuous states of isolation and separation. Three plaster figures appear within the space, without sequence or narrative; they co-exist. A figure is perched on top of a tall wooden structure. Concurrently, and across the gallery space, it appears [on another wooden structure] in a state of being crushed, squashed up against the ceiling. Yet again, the figure is found fallen, as if plummeted to the ground, amongst the remnants of another wooden structure.
